Texas authorities captured an international fugitive wanted for murder who was residing illegally in the US.
21-year-old Leo Acosta Sanchez, originally from Mexico, was apprehended during a routine patrol by Splendora police working with federal immigration authorities.
“Acosta entered the United States as a nonimmigrant on Aug. 20, 2023, and violated the terms of her admission,” ICE stated. “She remains in ICE custody pending disposition of her immigration proceedings.”
Sanchez was known to travel between Splendora and a nearby residential community, and she had entered the US illegally the previous year in violation of the terms of her admission.
Local police coordinated with the Department of Homeland Security to arrest Sanchez based on alleged crimes committed outside the US, and she remains in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.
“Following the arrival of additional units, a traffic stop was conducted, leading to the immediate arrest of the driver, identified as Leo Acosta Sanchez,” the Splendora PD stated.
