Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategic move involves showcasing Russian naval power near Cuba and Florida, with advanced warships equipped with hypersonic missiles.

The Admiral Gorshkov and the Kazan submarine carry nuclear-capable Zircon missiles, emphasizing Russia’s military capabilities.

The U.S. has closely monitored these actions with Coast Guard and Navy assets, including surveillance planes and Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.

“We’ve been tracking the Russians’ plans for this,” Sabrina Singh of the Pentagon stated.

Putin’s maneuvers are seen as a demonstration of asymmetric capabilities, aimed at flexing Russia’s strength but ultimately providing the U.S. with valuable tactical insights.

The drills have merely served as preparation for potential deterrence against China in the Pacific, amidst escalating tensions and Putin’s perceived dissatisfaction with recent geopolitical developments.
