Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism for her appearance at the BET Awards, with some accusing her of “pandering” and using a faux “blackcent” to connect with black voters.
“Yeah, girl, I’m out here in these streets,” Harris said from the stage.
“These extremists, as they say, they not like us,” she added.
The segment, where she discussed politics with host Taraji P. Henson, was seen as an attempt to boost support for the Biden-Harris ticket among black voters.
However, the move was met with widespread mockery, with critics highlighting the administration’s challenges, including surging consumer prices and declining black support for Biden.
Even Elon Musk weighed in, describing the appearance as “toenail curling level of cringe.”
