In a rare press interaction, President Joe Biden defended his economic policies in response to questions about persistent inflation, asserting that his administration is successfully navigating a “soft landing.”
He urged reporters to recognize the effectiveness of his policies.
“Has the U.S. beats inflation, Mr. President?” one reporter asked.

However, his claims appear inconsistent with actual inflation data, as Biden has previously misrepresented the inflation rate at the start of his presidency, which was around 1.4%, much lower than his assertions.
As of March 2024, the inflation rate stood at about 3.5%, indicating a slight increase from the previous month and remaining higher than when Biden took office, despite a decrease from its mid-2022 peak.
