On September 14, 2024, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh reportedly made an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Routh left a note expressing his intent and admitting failure, stating he would pay $150,000 to anyone who could complete the job.
“This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you…I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster,” Routh wrote.
“I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job,” he added.
Routh, a felon prohibited from gun possession, was found with an SKS rifle near Trump’s golf course.
He now faces charges for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and for having a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
“Prosecutors levied two charges against him: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number,” one report noted.
