Lunden Roberts, who had a child with Hunter Biden in 2018, claimed photos of him mysteriously disappeared from her devices after she learned she was pregnant.
During her paternity and child support case against Hunter, she grew suspicious the government may have been involved given conspiracy theories about political influence.
“A lot of stuff is gone from my iCloud… just about everything with Hunter was gone,” Roberts said. “That’s something that I can’t explain,” she said.
“You always wonder that because, especially like, hearing all these conspiracies about things and how they happen and especially with politics. So you always wonder that and that’s always been in the back of my mind—was somebody trying to protect him?” she asked.
Separately, a jury found Hunter guilty on three felony counts of making false statements to purchase a firearm while being an unlawful drug user.
Prosecutors cited his book admissions of crack cocaine use around the time and testimony from his sister-in-law that she witnessed such use.
“He knew he was using drugs. That’s what the evidence shows. And he knew he was addicted to drugs. That’s what the evidence shows,” prosecutor Leo Wise said.
His defense argued Hunter did not consider himself an “addict” when filling out the firearms form, and that no one saw him use drugs in the 11 days before his gun was taken away.
“With my last breath in this case, I ask for the only verdict that will hold the prosecutors to what the law requires of them,” Hunter’s lawyer Abbe Lowell said.
The White House maintains support for Hunter even as some aides want him distanced from his father’s reelection bid.
