Serena Williams offered encouragement and advice to Caitlin Clark of the WNBA, who has faced negativity and harsh on-court treatment.
Williams said the criticism Clark receives is often from those unable to accomplish what she can.
She urged Clark to stay grounded and continue doing what she’s doing, suggesting others may act negatively because they lack Clark’s abilities.
“If people are negative it’s because they can’t do what you do”

“I just love that she tried to stay grounded and that she doesn’t … look at her social [media],” Williams said. “I get it. I don’t either. And I think it’s so important to continue doing what she’s doing.”
Williams added, “And no matter what other people do, if people are negative, then it’s because they can’t do what you do … basically. And hopefully, she’ll continue to do what she’s doing.”
Williams’ comments echoed those of Shaquille O’Neal, who said some criticism of Clark stems from “professional jealousy.”
Clark, one of the WNBA’s top young stars, will face Chicago’s Chennedy Carter on Sunday – the same player who delivered a brutal hit on Clark two weeks ago.
