A recent report from Axios revealed concerns among senior Democrats, including some of President Joe Biden’s aides, regarding the effectiveness of Biden’s re-election strategy.
The report highlighted doubts surrounding Biden’s focus on issues such as Jan. 6, political violence, democracy, and Donald Trump’s character, noting that voter concerns may be overemphasized.
Despite this, Biden and his allies continue to push this strategy, with a particular emphasis on attacking Trump’s character.
“Donald Trump is only out for himself,” Biden wrote. “I’m fighting for the American people.”
“It is unclear to many of us watching from the outside whether the president and his core team realize how dire the situation is right now, and whether they even have a plan to fix it,” one Democratic strategist said. “That is scary.”
The report also mentioned worries about Biden’s declining popularity, his team’s reluctance to question the current path, and a sense of denial among key aides like Mike Donilon.
The report hinted at potential challenges for the Democratic Party in the upcoming elections, especially considering economic concerns and Biden’s re-electability.
“Even for those close to the center, there is a hesitance to raise skepticism or doubt about the current path, for fear of being viewed as disloyal,” another inside source said.
