Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is considering delaying former President Donald Trump’s sentencing in the hush money trial following Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity.

Defense attorneys seek to overturn the conviction based on new legal considerations.

The trial framed the hush money payment as an election influence attempt, yet the FEC previously ruled it not a campaign expense.

The Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity has raised concerns about the presidency’s expansive powers and potential implications for Trump’s future legal actions.

“The President therefore may not be prosecuted for exercising his core constitutional powers, and he is entitled, at a minimum, to a presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote.

“That immunity applies equally to all occupants of the Oval Office, regardless of politics, policy, or party.”
