Corporate media has concentrated on discrediting Donald Trump and advancing the Democratic agenda, a point underscored by Chris Cillizza’s response to Trump’s lawsuit against ABC News. Cillizza, former Washington Post and CNN columnist, said, “If there’s one thing corporate media have made clear over the last eight years, it’s that their very existence is predicated on degrading Donald Trump and boosting Democrats’ political agenda.”
After Trump sued George Stephanopoulos for defamation, ABC chose to settle by donating $15 million to Trump’s presidential library fund, avoiding a potentially damaging legal battle.
Cillizza added, “They didn’t settle because they were worried about losing.”
Cillizza criticized this decision, arguing it sets a dangerous precedent for journalism and reflects the media’s bias against Trump. Cillizza stated, “If that is the precedent — and I think it is the potential precedent — that’s a scary place.”
He expressed concern that Trump’s legal actions could threaten media accountability, while also pleading for public trust in journalists despite their history of bias and misinformation.
Cillizza said, “We need people calling balls and strikes that you can trust, and I really, truly believe that I am someone that you can trust.”
